Last night’s meeting was our January competition. The theme was ‘Metal and Glass’ and, as always, the Open section. Our judge for the evening was Jane Kearney and we started off with the themed images.
As usual there were a wide variety of interpretations, some focusing on the glass element, some the metal and others combining the two. There were images of architecture, windows, transport, reflections and still life arrangements to name but a few.
The open section was equally varied with some portraits, sports pictures, land and seascapes and natural history images.
Jane, with our Competition Secretary’s permission, varied the scoring slightly from the norm. In the themed section she held back the normal 10 pictures but awarded some ‘Commended’ images as well as the normal Highly Commended, 3rd, 2nd and 1st. In the open section she did the same but held back 13 pictures. In both classes she awarded joint 3rd place to two images. The results are as follows

Congratulations to Nick (a first, a third and a Commended) Martin Barber (2 seconds and a third), Chris Mowthorpe (a first and a Highly Commended) and Rachel Carter (a 3rd and a Highly Commended) . Well done also to Wendy Jennings, Lynne Thomas, and Peter Elliston who all achieved more than one place. Having mentioned these plaudits I think a ‘well done’ should go to everyone for some really lovely images.
Before the meeting started Diane did mention to everyone that the Committee is in need of some fresh blood and in particular we have need of a volunteer to take over from Sarah, as Programme Secretary, as she is moving away. If you are at all interested in that role or would like to join the Committee in a different role, and would like to know more please do make a point of having a chat with any of the current Committee Members
